Review: "Don't Blame Karma!"

Jennifer Green

The actors in this film deserve better than this predictable romcom. Well known to local viewers, the lead cast of Don't Blame Karma! is a talented, attractive, and charismatic group. The film, based on a story previously adapted in a 2016 Spanish movie, appears to have been tailor-built around them. But the situations, humor, and editing feel awkward, especially the random breaking of the fourth wall by the main character (played by Eugenio Derbez's daughter, Aislinn). Still, the 85 minutes are watchable and the settings in picturesque Merida are charming.
